hey bill, i doubt you will remember me but we met about 5 years ago in la ticla, my name is nick i am buddys with jonas fineman. anyway i flew over to auckland on jan 3rd and will be here a few more month. so far only been north a bit, found some small but fun waves. i dont have much for travel tips yet but i will let you know what i come across. if you want to meet up and get some waves my e mail is klous151@yahoo.com, also if you figure out where to make some boards i have been wanting to order one from you for years so let me know. cheers nick
bring all the little things you will need, wax, sun screen, maps, if your going to get a surf guide, all that is 2 or 3 times the price, wax is $5 a bar.
Roger Hall in Ruakaka (near Whangarei) in the far north would be worth talking to. A great shaper with that side of the Island totally dialed in. Make sure you get to that location in your photo too as it will blow you away. The Taranaki region can't be beat either with the selection of empty points and reefs being unparalleled, you will score!.
Been in nz for a few days on the coromandel , settling in. What a beautiful place. Thanks nick, for the info...brought as much wax as I could! Also, we were at el ranching for a few days at the same time. Anonymous, yep, I' m very interested in heading up north and check out roger. Thanks.
i build surfboards here in the mountains of north carolina. 100 % hand crafted, i shape 'em, glass 'em and surf 'em. this blog is to show a bit of what i do.
if you'd like to have one made please send me an email.
